Well we finally made it to my moms house in Cuchara, Colorado yesterday after a quick pit stop at my aunts to see the fam, little cousins for Karsyn, and a quick leg stretch. Her cousin can’t say her name and kept calling her Car Keys, which was hilarious and most likely going to be her new family nickname. I was way too tapped out from the long drive and the Great Hotel Disasters of 2026 to do anything but sit and have my favorite Colorado beer that I had to stop at 4 liquor stores to find. We finally found it at a little divey liquor store pulling in to my moms quiet mountain town.

The second I saw the trees, smelled mountain air, saw the Spanish Peaks peaking over the trees from my mom’s little nook (where I am coming to you from now), and finally didn’t need to listen to Bluey anymore, my whole nervous system finally calmed down. Now here I am somewhat distracted writing while I stare out the window seeing hummingbirds, flocking turkeys, deer, maybe a bear or mountain lion stay tuned for that post if it happens.

We took a walk yesterday to get the car jitters out, and I decided I’d be friends with the neighbors real quick. Walking past their cute mountain cottage I see K-State Wildcats signs. I already like them and can’t wait for the snow birds to arrive (even though we probably won’t be here, but you better count on my next visit, a surprise K-state something on their porch from a mysterious fan until we finally meet.

Today we’ll be planting flowers, going for more nature walks, drinking Beehive Honey Wheat, probably putting together puzzles, and just enjoying everything. There is also wine…so wine-ding down with my momma on her amazing porch.
