What’s something most people don’t understand?
That being a stay-at-home mom is actually a full-time job. I don’t clock in. I don’t clock out. I don’t get sick days. No PTO. No “I’ll circle back tomorrow.”
I homeschool—but not in the color-coded, gold star chart kind of way. I put on YouTube for Spanish and sign language lessons. I handle art, music, and the important stuff like flashcards for numbers, colors, animals, and whatever object she’s currently obsessed with.
Some days it looks productive. Some days it looks like watching “dogs” (101 Dalmatians) for the third time and calling it a lesson in disguise.
It’s not perfect. It’s not structured. It’s real life. No, I’m not a Red Bull–infused day camp counselor handing out cookies and juice boxes with a whistle around my neck. I’m just a mom… figuring it out as I go. Teaching, guiding, redirecting, surviving. All day. Every day.
And if you’re wondering… yes, I’m underpaid and overworked—and the benefits are totes unmatched.
Cheers to the moms holding it down after another successful day of unpaid, full-time employment. Let’s wine-d down together… because we deserve all the credit.
