Heating Up!

A few weeks ago, I decided I wanted to learn how to make sourdough (you know, blah blah blah… another era, another hobby, another thing I’m going to obsess over), but this one is really taking over and I’m not even mad about it. I’m also not mad about all of my cheerleaders along the way.

Buying bread like a normal person would have been a lot easier and a fuck ton cheaper…but let’s be real. I’m pretty extra.

Fast forward to today, and I have multiple starters with names, a dedicated sourdough cabinet, a 500-page bread book, and an Amazon wishlist dedicated to my new flour-based personality.

My birthday is in 10 days, and while I’m not expecting anything from anyone, I figured I’d share my sourdough wishlist because:

• it’s hilarious

• I’m curious what I’m missing

• my husband has started joking that he’s going to have to pimp me out to support my sourdough accessory addiction

So if you want to take a peek, cool. If not, that’s cool too. I promise I won’t be offended. I’m still feeding jars of flour and water, baking monster cookies because I can’t sit still, and pretending this is a normal way to spend my 40s…and the last of my mid-40s, which happened way too fast.

If anyone does happen to contribute to the Great Sourdough Experiment of 2026, I’ll give you a shoutout with your blog attached and, if I become this savvy person I’m setting out to be, a shoutout to your blog in my video. Assuming I don’t get distracted and decide I want to learn pickleball or firefighting. (For my home state of Colorado. Keep them in your thoughts.)

Anyway, here’s the list. Don’t judge me. Or do. I’ve already named the starters. And I’ve already purchased enough things that I should crush this shit.

I did start my 40s with a sweet baby girl at 41. I’m still not sure how I accomplished that!
