Dogs (not sourdough)

Ok, if you’re one of those people who can’t watch a movie if the dog dies, I get it. I’m that girl too.

I watched A Dog’s Purpose years ago and cried through most of it. The ending made me cry even harder because it made all the tears worth it. It also made me call my dogs over for hugs and lap time. For the record, lap time with an 70 pound dog and a 55-pound dog is a challenge.

That movie made me love them even more and hope that somehow they come back to me. Even Rumple. He may be a dirtbag, but he’s our dirtbag.

Barley would come back sweet, curious, well-behaved, and wanting attention. Rumple would come back drinking out of the toilet, barking at a leaf, barking at the trash truck, barking at his own farts, and barking at the air.

As much as I get mad at him for eating out of the trash right after I tell him not to or humping his sister, I’d want him back every single time. I might actually be able to turn his saliva into a sourdough starter from all the discard he’s ate (I know I said no sourdough references …only one, I promise).

Tonight we watched A Dog’s Journey. Same dog, same characters, some new ones, and it was just as good, if not better.

Yes, dogs die. But they come back for a reason, and that makes it worth the watch.

Trust me. They’re both great movies if you want to appreciate your dog a little more or if you just need to let out some emotion.

Because you will let out some emotion.

I feel like it matches their characters. Lucky guesses on the names…even though how Rumple got his name could be a whole new post.
