Are we a soccer country? It’s not our pastime and nobody is going to confuse us for that. Through 2 games this USA team is for real!
I first started watching USA soccer when we hosted the World Cup in 1994. We’ve had marginal success throughout the following World Cups often advancing to the knockout stage and bowing out.
That’s okay, again, we’re not Europe, futbol isn’t our pastime. Anyone want to play a game FOOTBALL! I live in Kansas City which is a host city and the passion is contagious.
I really believe (maybe naively) this team has a chance. Would it be an upset like when Rocky beat Apollo….totally. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

I believe enough to dust off the American Flag skull cap 2 Fridays in a row that only usually makes an annual appearance on the 4th of July. Did I get an initial side eye from my better half? Yes. Did my 2 year old daughter look at me like I was one of her action figures? Yes. The real point is I didn’t have to speak a word, an American Flag skull cap is as Merica as it gets.

Who knows how it will turn out, that’s why we love sports and why I’ll watch every game like a Taylor Swift groupie!
Enjoy the ride, it only comes every 4 years and maybe every 30 years on our home soil.
