Whining, Wine-ing & Winning

I’ve been a little MIA lately. I’ve been on the job market filling out application after application after application. I FINALLY got a call back…not one, but two. I got one for the job I REALLY want, and another for my second choice about 45 minutes later.

Finally, after all the waiting, all the adding resumes, job history, qualifications, and all the shit that goes with it, someone finally wanted me.

TWO someones.

I felt like a celebrity swiped the direction they’re supposed to swipe on my dating app. I’ve never actually had one, so I don’t know if that’s the feeling, but if it is, that’s exactly how my feels felt.

I had my first interview yesterday. You all will laugh, but it was for a wine sales rep position with a family-owned company promoting and selling wine to restaurants in my area. Sounds pretty perfect for me, right? I thought so too.

I think I nailed the interview.

I practiced a little beforehand, but with all my restaurant experience and working with these kinds of reps practically every day, I knew what they were looking for. So now I’m moving on to the next interview, and I couldn’t be happier about it.

Of course, it’s always good to have a backup. So I set up an interview with the other company I’ve had my eyes on for years. I’ve applied and been rejected over and over, but to be in sales, you have to know rejection is part of the deal and just keep going. So I did.

I meet with them today, and I’ve done all the prepping I can prep for. I’m prepped out at this point and ready to go in and crush it.

I’m sure I’ll spend the next week sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to hear back or at least get a second interview so I know I’m moving on to the next step.

I did get to go shopping for some new outfits to make me feel polished and confident and ready to prove I’m qualified.
