Whining, Wine-ing & Winning

Well boys and girls, it’s about time to honor that special woman in your life. The woman that’s put up with more shit than most humans do in a lifetime…in more ways than one. She’s our rock, she keeps things going, and she deserves a day that’s as special as she makes everyone else feel. So how about give her that.

Let’s get her a gift that’s actually for her, not the house (unless she’s like me and really does want something for the kitchen). Get her what she wants. Sometimes that’s all it takes to “warm” her heart.

I’ve got a few ideas below to help all you slackers out. Pull it together and give mom the best day of the year. I recommend starting with waking her up with hot breakfast and hot coffee (maybe even in her new cup). Throw in some flowers if you want, but not the “dead in two days” kind, get her something that lasts.

I’ve put together some things I would personally love…which I fully plan on casually emailing to my husband since my daughter can’t read yet, and to give my son a few ideas too. Feel free to do the same, moms…I’ve got you.

First and foremost—a coffee cup. Something that actually keeps her coffee hot while she resets about 23 times a day. This way she gets that hot sip without waiting for the microwave beep.

Next is a nice soft blanket. In my opinion, there’s nothing better than snuggling up on the couch after a long day with a warm blanket—even in the summer. I’m always cold, so I’ll take heat whenever I can get it. This is the one I use (gift from my husband on Valentine’s Day), and I use it every morning and every night.

I also love pots for spring plants…along with the plants themselves. Here are a bunch of options—just pick her style and you’re good.

If she likes to write (like me…or like most of you reading this), here’s my favorite journal. It’s simple but has that sleek, “this is mine” feel.

There are obviously a ton of options out there—these are just a few of my favorites. You can browse around and go with whatever fits her best. Honestly, you’ll probably end up grabbing more than one thing anyway.
