Today, we Satur-day.
I love weekends because my husband is here to do all the toddler things I do all week..,and he doesn’t bitch about it. He works all week while I’m home with our girl, but when he’s here…he steps in. Not because I ask him to, but because he wants to.
Potty trips, oops diapers, meals, snacks…he handles it. Just out here being a full-blown bad-ass dad. I never expected anything less, but still…I heart him.
Saturdays are our “fun days.” We try to keep it light, keep it easy, sneak in a little adult time when we can. But let’s be real…we still have a toddler trying to figure herself out. The voices, the tantrums, the everything.
Lately, she’s been freaking out over the most random stuff. Chapstick. Baby cows. Telling the dogs “no not nice.” Not getting snacks fast enough. You know…the important things in life.
Like most of my stories, this one doesn’t really have a point—just a little window into the day. I’ve been doing a lot of word prompts lately, but this is the real stuff. The mom stuff, because moms get it.
Some days you feel like you’re crushing life. Other days it feels like it’s crushing you right back. You’re negotiating over chapstick, Nutter Butters, Teddy Grahams, or Chips Ahoy like it’s a high-stakes business deal…then pouring a glass (or three) of wine at the end of it.
And somehow…you keep going.
So yeah…if you need a place to “wine-d down,” you’re in the right spot. We’re all just figuring it out together.
