Positive changes lately…I’ve got a HUGE one.
I finally decided to spend that $55 on a Thunder Shirt for my dog, Rumple. More like trying to convince my husband it was a good purchase while all I got in return was an eye roll.
I pled my case: “Either we try it and it works and we finally sleep at night…or it doesn’t and we don’t sleep at night. Your choice.” I win, of course. I’ve got that face down better than my daughter.
The Thunder Shirt shows up and I hand it to my husband. He looks at it like…this is it? “It’s not weighted or anything?” Still with the eye roll.
I said, “Think of it like a swaddle blanket. Remember when our daughter would cry and swaddling her would calm her down?” He called Rumple a pu$$y, laughed, and said whatever.
If dogs could actually talk… (they do in our house, because we give them voices and strange personalities), but if other people could hear them, they’d hear our other dog, Barley, laughing hysterically while we “swaddled” Rumple.

“You big nerd, Rumple!” (Except Barley has a speech problem, can’t say her R’s, and cusses like a sailor…so “nerd” was not the word she used.)
Back to the Thunder Shirt (linked here)…It actually worked. We had a thunderstorm, and there I was at 1 a.m., wrapping Rumple up while getting the weirdest look from him with Barley continuing her commentary from the sidelines…making fun of the poor dude for needing a hug shirt.
At first, he just stood there, confused, doing this weird, pur-ish whine.
Then he laid down, and went to sleep. A peaceful, quiet sleep, soooo yeah…this ended up being a very positive change for our family. We can finally sleep at night.
Now we just need a Thunder Shirt for toddlers, maybe you’ll see me on Shark Tank someday and think,“Hey…I remember that chick from Wine-ding Down on WordPress.”
