Typically (fingers crossed), after a good night’s sleep, I wake up with somewhat of a schedule. I get breakfast ready for my daughter and me, make my coffee, get us both clean, tidy up the kitchen, then we play upstairs in her “Pink Palace” while I sit down to write.
I either blog real ass mom shit or respond to the daily word prompt. Lately it’s been way more prompts, so my goal today is to get both.
However, this morning I’m feeling a smidge behind.
We had thunderstorms, and my dog Rumple thinks he’s going to die anytime there’s thunder within a 10-mile radius. Then it gets closer, and in his mind, he’s for sure a goner. Picture Marley in Marley & Me… but multiply that by 37.

Not me at 8am eating “straight outta” the container. I’m way too classy for this, right?
Welp…not today.
Today the dog, the rain, and bugs moving in uninvited put me in a mood. Not exactly my typical first hour of the day. Yes, I spiraled a little—back to it.
I’m getting back to my “first hour”… just more like 10:45 instead of 7:45. But I’ll take it, because I get to be home on a nice, cool, rainy day and mom the shit out of this life.
