These days, my job is being a mom and a wife. And honestly, I’m not even mad about it. It’s probably the most enjoyable job I’ve ever had. I get to spend time with my family and watch my daughter grow up, and that’s something I don’t take for granted. I’ve had jobs in the past that completely consumed me and took over my life. I’d much rather work to live than live to work.
Technology has definitely helped along the way. I use YouTube for Spanish and sign language lessons, and I use Bluey as my secret weapon to power-clean the house. It’s amazing how much I can get done in one episode now.
We also use tablets for tracing letters and matching colors, and I’ve got Alexa on demand to help with grocery lists and to tell me what’s on sale on Amazon—which is usually things I don’t need, but somehow convince myself I do… just in case.
We still stick to the basics too—crayons, blocks, Legos, and other toys that don’t involve screens for our no-screen-time time. But let’s be honest, most things these days involve some kind of technology, and I use it for everything. Checking the weather before park trips, figuring out if my kid is actually sick or just needed to fart, finding and tweaking dinner ideas when I’m out of inspiration, and now fueling my newest obsession—blogging.
Putting my thoughts out there feels so much better than keeping them tucked away in a journal. It’s become a favorite hobby of mine. It gives me peace, clarity, and a way to clear my mind in a way I didn’t expect. I feel calmer and more relaxed.
So yeah… I’d say technology has changed my “job” quite a bit—and I’d probably be a little lost without it.
