Books

Daily writing prompt
What book could you read over and over again?

Books. I haven’t really been much of a reader these days. Somehow it’s hard to get into a good book with an amped-up life: a toddler, dogs that act like toddlers, and a husband that acts like a tod…tal…bad-ass is what I meant to say.

However, while novels may be hard to read over and over, the real MVPs lately have been the traditional hardback books from my daughter’s bookshelf. She loves to reread books, and can even somewhat “read” along or predict what’s coming next. Here are a few of our favorites:

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Love You Forever

The Berenstain Bears Books

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

I was reading through some of the answers to the prompt, when I came across one reader referring to the old school Goosebbumps, written by R.L. Stine, and I felt that. I think I had every book ever published. I read them all over and over…knowing what was going to happen, but I didn’t care.

I loved the mystery. I loved that they were usually unpredictable. I couldn’t recite the names of the books or the characters (this was years ago for me), but I do remember one story slightly, something about a typewriter with blue ink. A letter gets traced back to a girl who didn’t even write it…turns out someone had access to her typewriter (or got their own), making you think she was the suspect…only to find out it was some other weirdo.

Thanks for joining me today for my word prompt. I’d love to hear how you wine-d down with your favorite book. What is it?
