Go Away

Our daughter just sang “go away” to her dad in the tune of Let It Go, and I don’t think I’ve ever been more proud… or more concerned. She didn’t yell it. She committed a full performance…Melody, emotion, eye contact. Just standing there casually telling him to leave like she was auditioning for The Voice.

He just stood there taking it. What do you even do in that moment? Correct her? Applaud? Start packing your bags?

I’m not saying she meant it… but she definitely meant it. Then she told him to shut up and got sent to time out. Parenting is going great over here.

This all happened last night, but I was deep in my Beat KU era and felt like I had already word vomited enough for the day, and I didn’t want to be annoying. Now I’m sitting here with my RYZE coffee trying to figure out if we’re getting yesterday’s version of her… or the sweet one.

Mornings start in The Pink Palace where I squeeze myself into a tiny desk and write while she plays. It’s one of my favorite parts of the day, watching her little brain explore and grow, reading stories, and little assignments I give her to do.

This is what I’m here for. To take it in, to drink pretend coffee, and to teach. I think I’m doing okay at it so far.

What a hilarious mommy-moment! Little kids really are the most amazing creatures. When my daughter would make her ‘mad face’ and be disrespectful, I was always torn between wanting to laugh and the need to be the responsible parent and put her in a time out. Then she would bolt from the time out corner and the chase was on!

It was hard not to laugh, she’s only 2… so I’m going to have my hands full.

I am not a mom, but that sounds like something my kid would do. And if my kid sang it to an 80s song..I would be prouder still. Lol
